SO, SUCH, TOO, ENOUGH
SO+ADJECTIVE
He's so cute! (¡Es tan guapo!)
It's so expensive! (¡Es tan caro!)
SO+ ADVERB
He dances so well! (¡Baila tan bien!)
SO MUCH/MANY + NOUN
We earned so much money! (¡Ganamos tanto dinero!)
There were so many people! (¡Había tanta gente!)
Take note: so + noun or verb
In modern spoken English, so can be found before nouns and verbs.
That dress is so last year! (= That dress is last year’s fashion.)
I’m so going to shout at him when I see him! (so = really)
It's such a nice day!! (¡Hace un día tan bonito!)
It's such an amazing story! (¡Es una historia tan extraordinaria!)
If the noun is plural or uncountable A/AN mustn't be used
I't such beautiful weather! ("weather" is uncountable. ¡Hace un tiempo tan bueno!)
They are such nice children! ("children" is plural. ¡Son unos niños tan buenos!)
IMPORTANT!!
SO/SUCH ... THAT..... to express CAUSE and EFFECT
So and such are used with a that clause to express cause and effect (or reason and result)
She felt so bad that she started to cry.
They had such a good time that they said they’d go again.
That introduces the result. But in informal English, we sometimes leave it out.
It was such a good film (that) he saw it twice.
There were so many restaurants (that) they didn’t know which one to go to.
TOO and ENOUGH
TOO + ADJECTIVES
It's too expensive (¡Es demasiado caro!)
TOO+ ADVERBS
He ran too fast! (¡Corrió demasiado rápido!)
TOO MUCH/TOO MANY + NOUNS
He has too much money (Tiene demasiado dinero)
She has too many cars (Tiene demasiados coches)
ENOUGH+ NOUN
I have enough money (tengo suficiente dinero)
ADJECTIVE+ ENOUGH
It's not big enough! (no es lo bastante/suficientemente grande)
Sentences with too/enough are sometimes followed by to + verb infinitive (para...)
There aren’t enough players to make a team.
It's too late to apologize
It's too early to start work
