In 1983 Tom (start) to work as a doctor in Bristol Hospital, but in the following year he (have) a serious car accident and finally (have to) give up work as a doctor in 1985. Although he (move) to London for two years, he (live) in Leeds since 1998. When he (go) to London in 1986 he (start) writing and (write) books and articles ever since then. His first novel was published in 1989. Since then, he (travel) in South America, and recently his second novel (win) the Cooker Prize.
