PASSIVE SHIPS AHOY !
This is a classic battleship game designed to practice the Passive Voice tense forms.
It can take around 30 minutes and will give you a good change to flip your class and let your students practice their speaking.
- The game is played in pairs.
- Each student has the same sentences in the active voice.
- The teacher gives one handout to each of the students and makes sure they understand the sentences
- Students cross out 6 "ships": 3 ships of two boxes, 2 ships of 3 boxes and 1 ship of 4 boxes (you may wish to change this, so I leave it up to you)
- One of the student begins by "shooting" one sentence in the correct passive voice and the other student checks if he has hit his "ship" or missed his shot.
- If the sentence is correct and has hit the opponent's ship he shoots again until he misses.
- Then the turn is passed to the other student and so on.
- The first student to sink his opponents "ship" is the winner
