We (drive) across the desert when our car ( break) down miles from anywhere. We ( have) two flat tyres at the same time and crashed into a rock.
People ( warn) us the road ( be) dangerous, but at that time, we (just/ laugh) at them. Now we were in trouble.
At first we ( think) that somebody would stop and help us, but there ( be) nobody else on the road. So after a while, we ( decide) to start walking. Luckily, this ( be) in March so it wasn’t very hot. We (spend) the night near the car, but in the morning we ( start) walking back towards the nearest town. At midday we (stop) among some trees, and by then we (feel) really tired and thirsty. Then, we ( hear) the sounds of animals at the top of a nearby hill. We (follow) a path up the hill and at the end of the path we ( find ) some wooden huts. The shepherds who (live) there
(give) us food and water and (take ) us to a village. After that, we (manage) to get a lift back to the town. So, in the end we (survive) our trip through the desert, though I must admit that we were lucky.
